Nothing More

You never take any consequences,
Because the consequences don’t matter to you
You do what you like with a constant smile
Not caring what others think about you

Your friends are mostly temporary
Random people walking in and out of your life
And you’re fairly easy going, you smile and you laugh
But I wonder if anyone’s seen the inside

I wonder if you ever peel off the smile
Remove all the plastic and stop with the lies
I wonder if, when your friends leave, does it hurt
When they quietly walk away, do you ever learn?
Or is it really just all fun and games
Are you nothing more than what we see every day
Are you nothing more?

You’ve never been mad at me, never been careless
Enough to let the smile leave you behind
But at the same time, you’ve never been honest
Enough to let the smile reach your eyes

I wonder if you ever look at yourself
Put the smile and the plastic all on the shelf
Remember the things you told friends about friends
And feel guilty for ruining another event
Or is it really just all fun and games
Are you nothing more than what we see every day
Are you nothing more?

Do you talk behind my back as well
Do I have your respect or do I just see a shell
Are you any more honest with me than anyone else
Or am I just like the others, I really can’t tell
Do you love anyone, do you love yourself?

Are you nothing more?

I wonder if you ever peel off the smile
Remove all the plastic and stop with the lies
I wonder if, when your friends leave, does it hurt
When they quietly walk away, do you ever learn?
Or is it really just all fun and games
Are you nothing more than what we see every day
Are you nothing more? site down
